Lita Cabellut 1961-
Lita Cabellut's work was featured in the KM Fine Arts Gallery, and she was my favorite artist of the day. Her work is massive, most of the pieces we saw were taller than me. The colors she uses and her painting technique give the pieces a great presence. I absolutely love her style, I could've spent hours looking at her work. She was born in Barcelona, Spain and grew up in a poor gypsy environment . The memories and people from that time in her life heavily influence her work.

Philip Pearlstein 1924-
We saw Philip Pearlstein's paintings in the Valerie Carberry Gallery. His work is also relatively large, which made it easy to see the incredible detail he put into the shading of the figures in both the foreground and background. Pearlstein started off painting landscapes, but then moved to focus on the figure. The nudes in his paintings are often posed in uncommon positions and painted in a realistic style.
Edward Gorey 1925-2000
I saw his work in the gift shop of the Art Institute printed on shirts and bags. I thought the illustrations were really interesting and creepy. Gorey worked illustrating book covers and in some instances, did interior illustrations for texts. He then went on to create his own books that are filled with his macabre style illustrations.
